Recently, CADAIR has successfully delivered a VOCs treatment system for the air flotation tanks at an oil and gas field produced water treatment station. The project replaces the outdated facilities with a compliant, high-efficiency technical solution, enabling the owner to maintain stable, standards-compliant VOCs emissions.
Project Background: Meeting Policy Mandates and Advancing Technology Upgrade
The owner previously operated a VOCs collection and treatment system built with photohydroionization technology. In 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment classified photocatalysis and its combined purification processes as eliminated technologies in the National Catalogue of Pollution Prevention and Control Technologies (2024 Edition: Restricted and Eliminated Categories), creating urgent compliance upgrade pressure for the existing facilities.
To address this, the owner engaged CADAIR to upgrade the VOCs treatment system for its air flotation tanks. CADAIR replaced the original equipment with a “pretreatment + activated carbon adsorption + catalytic oxidation (CO)” process to ensure emissions fully comply with Hebei Province’s Emission Control Standard for Volatile Organic Compounds from Industrial Enterprises (DB 13/ 2322—2025).
Treatment Process: Safe, Stable and High-Performance Abatement

- Pre-pretreatment Waste gas from the air flotation tank first flows through a scrubber to remove acid gases and oil mist, then passes through a dry filtration unit to trap water mist and fine dust. This step prevents clogging and fouling of the downstream activated carbon media.
- Activated Carbon Adsorption & Concentration The pre-treated gas enters the activated carbon adsorption unit, where VOCs are captured and concentrated on the activated carbon media. The cleaned air is then discharged after meeting emission standards.
- Catalytic Oxidation (CO) The VOCs concentrated by the adsorption system are fed into the catalytic oxidation unit, where they are decomposed into carbon dioxide and water at low temperatures for compliant discharge.

The entire system is prefabricated, integrated and fully commissioned at the factory, delivering consistent, controllable quality. On-site setup only requires hookups to external gas, power and water lines for rapid startup, drastically cutting on-site construction time and minimizing disruption to daily operations. Its compact design saves floor space, and the full skid can be hoisted and relocated as a single unit for high reusability.
